This week is just an update on our students!
Art 1- Our students are working very hard on charcoal. They have previously worked on graphite pencil still lives and are now transitioning into charcoal still lives of kitchen utensils. Some of them love it and some of them hate it. Despite the opinions, charcoal is a common and necessary part of basic art.
Art 2- These students have now begun working on their planar analysis paintings. They broke an image into shapes and made a value scale to paint the separations by color. This is the first these students have worked with oil paint. They are finding it not as scary as they imagined. Oil paint is very easy to cover mistakes.
Art 3- Our small but talented group of art 3 students are venturing into the idea of consumerism. It was completely a personal project, designed and created by only them. They were able to choose and do any subject as long as it fit under consumerism. It's interesting to see the statements that young people are making. These students are expanding their art vocabulary.

AP Art- And of course our AP students are working very hard on their portfolios. The date to turn in their work is soon approaching. Lets wish these seniors luck on finishing their extensive portfolio in the next two months.
