Oil Painting Club

Cardinal Mooney has an Oil Painting Club! The students in the club learn how to use oil painting techniques. They enjoy using the oil paint and thought it would be easy, but it is not. The club is a pleasurable after school activity and here are some works!

Obscuring Portraits

Art 2's project was obscuring portraits! This is when the student takes a photo of someone and somehow covers part of the persons face. Not only does the students have to draw out the portraits, but they have to apply different shading techniques.

Different Projects

Monica Freeman who is in Art 2 did this piece of art for her sketchbook assignment.

This is an Identity project done by Chris Wesolowski in Art 3.
Annemarie did this still life for her Art 1 project.

This piece of artwork was done by Linda and this is an Identity Project for Art 3.

Monday, October 28, 2013

At the moment Art 1 students are doing a still life. This is where the student is challenged to draw and shade an object that is right in front of them. This is a challenging project but these students will have beautiful finished works when they are done!

Packing Tape Sculptures

The Art 2 students have been making packing tape sculptures for spirit week! Our theme is Marvel v.s. DC and the sculptures will represent the heroes. At the moment the sculptures look like a pile of dead bodies but soon will be morphed into super heroes.

Monday, September 30, 2013

Art 2 is making 3-D tape sculptures of one another. Each group of students could choose a pose for their sculpture. The process of making these sculptures is too wrap a classmate in tape, sticky side up, then to re-wrap them with the sticky side down. After this the other students in the group cut off the tape and mold it into the body part that it was. Soon the body parts will turn into a figure!

Third Week In

It is the third week of school and the art students are progressing through their work! Art 1 is tracing their hand for a project to make it 3D. While Art 2 is coloring boxes to make a larger picture which will turn out to be a face. Also Art 3, 4, and AP are still working on the same projects as last week and the digital students are still working on photography skills. An example of what the digital students are doing is depth in field which is the photo here.

While Mrs. Lazar is away.....

Hello Cardinal Artists

Unfortunately Mrs. Lazar will not be in on Monday.  Here is what she would like your classes to work on.

Art 1-Sit with groups of two or three on the classroom computers and use the link below to review the Elements of Art and Principles of Design PowerPoint.  Take notes on all YELLOW text.  I will check your notes when I return, so hold on to them.

Art 2-You should be finishing up your review worksheet and beginning the Chuck Close Project.  If you are unclear on the Chuck Close  Project, you may work on the next sketchbook assignment.

Art 3-You should be working on the Noun project. If you are waiting on supplies, you may work on the sketchbook Assignment, or help the struggling students with their concepts.

AP Art- Work digitally to create at least one complete Concentration image with Photoshop.

Digital Art- Continue to practice with the manual functions of the camera.  Experiment with motion, try to freeze motion and blur it. Document the Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO

First Week!!!

It is the first week of school! All of the art students are being prepared to start their projects for next week. Art 1 students are learning the basics of art and medias through Mrs. Lazar's stupendous power points! While Art 2 had a work sheet handed out to them to review what they have learned in Art 1. Art 3 and Art 4 have already been given a project where they have to interpret a noun and draw a picture but not literally, making this project pretty challenging. AP Art students are working on their portfolio with their spectacular work. Finally, the Digital Art class is learning how to work with new digital media and programs. All in all it has been a good first week of school!
